Q2 2025: Roughly Two-Thirds of Business Travelers Say the Trip Will Go On, Despite Politics—But It’s Changing How They Prepare

Business as Usual, With Contingencies

Roughly two-thirds of business travelers say political tensions don’t affect their travel plans. Still, most of that group reported increased caution, favoring flexible bookings, pre-travel alerts, and operational backups.

Business travel continues, with guardrails—prompting travelers to ask: What happens if something changes?

Brands that lead with transparency and flexibility, safety communications, and proactive alerts can build trust in high-stakes environments. Risk services (e.g., security partnerships, visa concierge) also serve as differentiators in these scenarios.

Quote from the Tribe:

"We’re still sending teams out globally, but there's more conversation now about contingency plans, logistics, paperwork, and having backup options. It’s business as usual — with a layer of caution.”

Commercial Takeaway:

Highlight refundability, 24/7 traveler assistance, and policy transparency within booking flows. Make “what if” scenarios easy to answer early in planning.

About the MODIV Tribes Series

Since 2022, MODIV’s always-on Mindset® study has engaged more than 48,000 frequent travelers across 25 countries. Our mission: decode the why behind traveler behavior—so travel and hospitality brands can act smarter, faster, and with greater commercial precision.

Our Tribes series distills what hospitality leaders need to know—direct from the source. Each quarter, we engage Business Travelers, Luxury Travelers, Zillennials, and Meeting Planners through our proprietary Mindset® study, then translate what we hear into strategic insights you can use.

This isn't one-and-done research. Each week, we go back to a tribe to test sharper questions based on what you tell us you need to know. Got a question you want answered? We invite you to add your voice in the comments or reach out directly.
